CabinKit_Tasks is a small private application that runs on a wall-mounted display in a single household. It shows that household's shared Google Tasks lists — groceries, chores, things to pack — so that everyone can see what is outstanding and tick items off in passing, without unlocking a phone. It also shows what is on that household's Google Calendar, by day, week and month.
It is not a product, it is not for sale, and it is not offered to anyone outside the household that runs it. There is one installation.
When you connect the panel, it asks for two permissions:
.../auth/tasks — to read the task lists on the account,
tick items off and reopen them, and add, rename or delete a task. Exactly
what you would do in the Google Tasks app..../auth/calendar.readonly — to read the calendars
on the account so it can show what is on. It cannot create, change or
delete an event; the permission does not allow it.It asks for nothing else. It has no access to your mail, your files, your photos, your contacts or your location, because the permissions it holds do not extend to them.
Nowhere. Task data is fetched directly from Google to the panel on your own home network, held in memory to draw the screen, and discarded. It is not copied to any server, not shared with anyone, and not used for advertising or analytics. There is no account to sign up for and no operator on the other end.
